Reiki Level 1
Level 1 Reiki, also known as Shoden, represents the beginning stage of the Reiki journey. Let’s delve into what it entails:
Purpose and Focus:
Self-Healing: At this level, the primary focus is on self-healing. You learn to connect with the universal life force energy and channel it within yourself.
Basic Hand Positions: You’ll explore basic hand positions for treating others and your own physical, emotional, and energetic aspects.
Techniques and Practices:
No Symbols: Reiki Level 1 doesn’t involve complex symbols or techniques. Instead, it relies on clear intention and the use of your hands.
Powerful Method: Despite its simplicity, Level 1 is a powerful method that allows you to tap into the universal energy and direct it where needed.
Spiritual Aspect:
Connection to Spirituality: Reiki, in general, is a spiritual practice. It was “received” from a higher plane of existence by Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, in the early 1900s.
Universal Energy: Reiki works with the universal energy, which is present everywhere. It transcends religious boundaries and is accessible to anyone, regardless of their belief system.
Origins and Evolution:
Usui Reiki Ryoho: The concept of Reiki levels primarily applies to Usui Reiki Ryoho. Other Reiki systems may differ.
Initial Wholeness: Reiki initially emerged as a whole, undivided practice. It wasn’t structured into levels.
Segmentation for Clarity: Over time, Reiki was passed down and evolved. The segmentation into levels helps us understand and assimilate the knowledge more clearly.
In summary, Reiki Level 1 is about self-healing, connecting to universal energy, and laying the foundation for further exploration in the Reiki system.
Reiki Level 2
Reiki Level 2, also known as the practitioner level, represents a significant step in a Reiki practitioner’s journey. Let’s explore its essence and significance:
Deepening the Connection:
At Level 2, practitioners move beyond self-healing and introspection. They learn more advanced Reiki techniques, including the use of symbols.
The focus shifts more to administering Reiki to others. Practitioners gain the ability to channel and direct healing energy towards recipients.
The Three Symbols:
Reiki Level 2 introduces practitioners to three essential symbols:
Power Symbol: Enhances the practitioner’s energy flow.
Distance Symbol: Enables distant healing for those not physically present.
Emotional/Mental Symbol: Allows focused healing for mental and emotional issues.
Attunement and Certification:
To become Reiki Level 2 practitioners follow these steps:
Mastery of Reiki Level 1: A prerequisite.
Seek a Reiki Master: Find an experienced Reiki Master.
Undergo Reiki Level 2 Attunement: Receive additional energy channel openings.
Comprehensive Study & Practice: Dive into the symbols and techniques.
